USPCE chooses Air Quality Issues as the focal research theme
On January 18th 2006, the USPCE Board of Directors voted to focus research time and funding on issues related to Air Quality. After discussion, it was apparent from all perspectives, that Air Quality is a dominant issue facing the pork industry.
The USPCE plan is to facilitate a nationally cooperative research effort. The initial plan of work involves a February/March introduction of the Air Quality project to the NPB Environmental Committee, and researchers from ISU and USDA.
By April of 2006 the USPCE will send personalized solicitations to Ag College Deans for locating current experts in a wide range of agricultural fields whose work is related to air quality.
The list of research experts will be completed and informed of the Air Quality cooperative project by August 2006. By fall 2006 the cooperating group of experts will formally meet to discuss the Air Quality Project and how to proceed.
